Welcome to English Learner Identification Process Training created and delivered to you by the Language and Culture Division at the New Mexico Public Education Department. This course is intended/required to be completed by superintendents, principals, directors, and frontline staff who assist parents/guardians when enrolling their students in school for the first time. The goal is to ensure that school representatives understand the purpose of the Language Usage Survey, know how to answer parents/guardians’ questions about the Language Usage Survey, and provide support to ensure the Language Usage Survey is presented in a language the parents/guardians understand to avoid any misunderstandings and misclassifications of English learners.
